Ta lớn khôn trong vòng tay của mẹ

Mang vào đời lòng hiền hậu của cha

Nhà ta ở bên dòng sông uốn khúc

Nước vỗ bờ lời mẹ ru thiết tha

Kể từ đó ta cùng con sông nhỏ

Kết tình thân theo dòng nước lớn nhanh

Ta lặn ngụp bơi ven bờ hạnh phúc

Dòng sông Hàn tắm mát tuổi ngây thơ

Mối tình đầu gởi trên cành phượng vĩ

Gió lao xao hoà điệu nhạc ve sầu

Trên ghế đá ngồi nhìn chiếc lá rụng

Sóng dập dồn đưa chiếc lá về đâu

Đà Nẵng ơi ! dòng sông Hàn diệu vợi

Tuổi học trò mơ mộng một dòng sông

Để mai này tuổi đời vừa đủ lớn

Sông đưa ta vào biển rộng mênh mông

Và từ đó giã từ con sông nhỏ

Xa quê hương không mong một ngày về

Ai đã từng làm học trò Đà Nẵng

Mơ một lần tắm lại nước sông xưa

THE RIVER OF MY TOWN

Now - I'm a grown-up person

By the loves and protection of my Parents

And the consolations of my Mother

They're like the waves of the Han river ...

I have had many souvenirs from this River

My fresh and generous life by its water

I thank you River of History

And very proud of my Country

My first love was opened in Summer

It's welcomed by the Cicadas song and Phuong flowers

At the same time - the first leaf fell down on the river

I've thought that - my life will be in the Free World

Oh Danang my town - and the Han river

These places were teachers of my childhood

For Justice - Freedom and Human-Rights

So now - I' ve still loved my country forever

I said good bye to my country - once before

Because I couldn't live under the dictatorial regime

Of freedom - to return to that River - for swiming again
